Annabelle is a financial services professional with more than 20 years of experience, mainly in the public policy, consumer affairs and financial resilience disciplines.
Annabelle is currently responsible for Suncorp’s Financial Inclusion Action Plan and strategy, as well as the management of Essentials by AAI, Australia’s first “micro-insurer”. As part of this work, Annabelle is responsible for improving community access to financial services, ensuring that the people who need them the most can access and utilise them efficiently and fairly.
Annabelle is an inaugural member/leader of the Thriving Communities Partnership (TCP) – a cross sector collaboration, aimed at reducing financial vulnerability across the community. She is an active member of the Australian Centre of Financial Studies Advisory Board and the Chair of the Insurance Research Reference Group.
Annabelle has recently been appointed as a Reference Group member for the newly formed Consumer Policy Research Centre, whose focus is on the use of data in creating good consumer policy and protections, via the development of consumer indexes, to improve transparency and help identify improvements in market practices. This Research Centre has been established to provide policy advice for Government in areas such as energy, telecommunications and financial services.
Annabelle is also the Chair of the General Insurance Code of Practice for the Insurance Industry and has recently led the completion of the review/update of the next iteration of the GI Code. Main areas of focus includes family violence, mental illness, financial hardship and the design and distribution of insurance products.
Annabelle’s work has been recognised publicly by being given various Insurance Industry Awards for Innovation and Leadership.
